Amelia reviews Loveshadow’s self-titled album, released in June, which gives off “major Twin Peaks vibes.” In Amelia’s words, “Loveshadow is an excellent pick for anyone seeking sultry tunes at moderate tempos, especially for fans of musical fusion and dreamy storytelling.”

Loveshadow, a local DJing duo, released a self-titled album on the Music From Memory label in June. Although their cosmic future-funk / pop creation was deemed “an album to make love to on the beach” during summer, its depth of texture and richness of tone ought to be commended for offering timeless enjoyment in an abundance of personal, platonic, or seductive contexts.

This record gives major Twin Peaks vibes by the way — it feels like it was designed to have a similar sense of drama, mystery, romance, and nostalgia. The tracks are arranged together elegantly, with solid album sequencing to help elevate listeners into a beautiful, imaginative space of potential reflection and discovery. Plus, the artists create outstanding ambiance and story in each of the songs with compelling lyrics and surreal audio effects.

Each track feels like a masterpiece in a cohesive story, and the release has several noteworthy highlights, including the concept and production of “No Control,” the poetic lyrics of “Passthru,” and the phat bass weaving through layers of synths and transient vocals in “Tableaux Vivant.”

Loveshadow is an excellent pick for anyone seeking sultry tunes at moderate tempos, especially for fans of musical fusion and dreamy storytelling. With vibrato-laden vocals, trippy synthscapes, thicc basslines, and hot flares of electric guitar, it is a ubiquitously inspiring acoustic experience.

Seriously, imagine having awe sparked looking through a colorful window on a misty autumn morning, stepping into a foggy jungle-bar with an intimate theater area, or taking a delightful endorphin-filled study break. While pairing perfectly with any of the above, this album suits more extensive listening journeys too; go ahead, bring it to the airport, or play it on the way to work to make the passing time feel more luxurious. If one listen isn’t enough, do not be surprised!
